5 Celebrity Parties We Wish We Were Invited To by Miss Polish

Here at Say It With Polish, we’re all about celebrating special occasions in style. And when it comes to celebrating in style, Hollywood’s finest knows how to do it best.

Here are our top five picks for celebrity parties we wish we were invited to:

1. North West’s First Birthday

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West aren’t exactly known for their modesty. So in true Kimye fashion, they spared no expense planning their little bub’s first birthday bash. Lovingly re-titled ‘Kidchella’, North West’s celebrated her first year on earth at Kourtney Kardashian’s Calabasas mansion which had been transformed into a kid-friendly version of popular American music festival, Coachella.

Why we wish we were invited:

Guests at Kidchella were treated to their very own private music festival, complete with a bounce house, a Ferris wheel, a festival-style lip sync booth, teepees, picnic benches and carnival-style refreshments. Judging from the photos posted on the Kardashians' social media accounts, the party looked like a blast for everyone in attendance – young or old. Kendall and Kylie Jenner took to Instagram to share their favourite moments of the day – Kendall documenting their performance on the ‘Kidchella’ stage and both Kendall and Kylie posting a snap atop the party’s Ferris wheel.

2. Naomi Campbell’s 36th

Legendary catwalk queen Naomi Campbell is not only a party globetrotter but seemingly quite the talented party host too. Known for throwing superbly extravagant celebrations for herself, nothing can quite compare to her lavish 36th birthday party, which ran for three days and at an exclusive hotel in Dubai to the tune of $1.8 million. Hosted by her former millionaire boyfriend, Badj Jafar, the party was attended by the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and fellow 90’s supermodel pals Linda Evangelists and Eva Herzigova.

Why we wish we were invited:

Aside from the idea of being in the same room as the man-of-our-dreams, David Beckham, there are many other (albeit, much less important) reasons why we wish we’d made it on Naomi’s enviable guest list.

First, the venue. Naomi’s three-day extravaganza was set at the only 7-star hotel in the world, the exclusive Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai. Not only was it not enough to host the party at the hotel, she also had all 18 floors rented out to house her guests in style. The hotel, located on a private island, had 202 duplex suites – each worth upwards of $1200 per night and serviced by private butlers.

Second, the themes. Not theme, themes. Each day had it’s own unique theme, staring with an “All White” theme for Day 1, “Hip Hop” theme for Day 2 and “Brazilian Samba” for the grand finale.

Third, the food and entertainment. Guests were wined and dined at one or more of the hotel’s nine lavish restaurants, which featured authentic Arabic cuisine, Far East Asian, and Modern European dishes. One of the hotel’s most popular restaurants, which feature an underwater concept, treated the guests to fresh seafood dishes such as caviar, oysters and Maine lobster. Music and dancing was left to the capable hands of DJ Cassidy, whose celebrity clientele include The King of R&B, Jay Z and the President of the United States, Barrack Obama. Known in the fashion world as being a certified party girl, we didn’t think Naomi would have disappointed on this front, and it looks like she certainly did not.

3. Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday

As the loving wife of one of the most powerful men in the world, you would expect nothing less from Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday bash than a night to remember. Reports claim that the First Lady danced into the wee hours of the morning together with a star-studded crowd of 500, which included Beyonce and Jay Z, Sir Paul McCartney, the Clintons, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jordan and a host of White House and Capitol Hill’s finest.

Why we wish we were invited:

Though rubbing shoulders with the worlds most influential is a good enough reason in and of itself, we have to say that the chance to enjoy the night’s festivities seems just as exciting.

According to the event’s distinguished guests, the night was chock full of memorable moments, from performances by the industry’s most prominent stars to a tear-jerking tribute to the birthday girl given by her husband, President Barrack Obama.

The night’s musical line up took off with the Queen Bee herself who put on a mini concert of half a dozen of her chart-topping hits, including “All the Single Ladies”, one of the First Lady’s favourite songs. Once the clock struck midnight, the birthday cake was brought out, accompanied by two renditions of “Happy Birthday” led by crooner John Legend.

Once the birthday candles were blown, DJ Cassidy took charge of music as Beyonce changed into slippers to join the other guests on the dance floor. Mrs. Obama followed suit, ditching her own heels to go barefoot, kicking the party into the next gear. Soon enough, all the women at the party had their shoes off.

"[By] 2 a.m., there was the President and First Lady on the dance floor with a circle around them," said one guest. "It was Beyoncé and some of her dancers and the Obamas were more than keeping up. It looked like they got briefed on all the new moves. The First Lady danced like she was one of her daughters' generation." At some point, Stevie Wonder even got behind a keyboard and played an impromptu medley of songs for the crowd.

Added bonus: Guests were asked to check their cellphones at the door upon entry, as these were not allowed inside the venue. So, any evidence of our gross attempts to coolly bust a move under the confidence-building yet incredibly deceiving influence of champagne would not have reached civilian eyes.

God bless America (and the US Department of Homeland Security).

4. David Furnish’s 50th

For anyone turning the big 5-0, its almost a given that such a milestone be celebrated in lavish style. If your turning the big 5-0 and just happen to be Sir Elton John’s husband, David Furnish, it’s almost a given that ‘lavish’ won’t even begin to cut it.

Known to be a little bit over-the-top (and by a little bit, we mean very), Sir Elton John spared no expense on the extravagant four-day affair for his paramour. Guests were flown in from all over the world and put up at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverley Hills for the duration of the celebrations, all at Elton’s expense.

Why we wish we were invited:

Two words: The itinerary. Parties don’t usually have itineraries, but unfortunately, we’ve never been to a party thrown by Elton John.

Here’s what made the calendar:

Day 1:

The celebrations officially kicked off with a housewarming party at the couple’s 4.8 million pound Hollywood Hills mansion, which had undergone refurbishment solely in preparation for the event. Whilst sipping on the finest bubbly served by the attractive male wait staff, the guests enjoyed music from the Gypsy Queens, tasked to provide the entertainment for the night.

Day 2:

Day 2, which marked David’s actual birthday, saw all 200 of the couple’s distinguished guests treated to dinner at the ballroom of the 112-year-old Belasco Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Renowned chef Ludo Lefebvre prepared the menu whilst Cirque de Soleil provided the entertainment.

Day 3:

TGIF. Celebrations continued at nightclub Greystone Manor on the third day of celebrations, where music icon Cher was in charge of entertainment, performing exclusively for the party guests.

Day 4:

Last stop – Vegas! Guests were driven 300 miles to Sin City to sit in the best seats at Ceasear’s Palace to watch Elton perform his Million Dollar Piano show. The celebrations officially ended with a private after-party at the hotel.

5. Taylor Swift’s 25th birthday party

When an average person turns 25, they have a quarerlife crisis. When Taylor Swift turns 25, she has this generation’s coolest, yet refreshingly laid back, party ever.

To mark her 25th year of existence, America’s sweetheart celebrated in true celeb style at her Tribeca pad and with her enviable posse of famous besties. Beyoncé, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, Sam Smith, Karlie Kloss, girl group Haim, Charlie XCX, Emma Roberts, Chrissy Teigen, Jaime King, Kelly Osbourne, Nick Jonas and Olivia Culpo were all in attendance and seemed to be having a ball over a casual night of pizza, beers and multiple photobooth sessions.

Why we wish we were invited:

Because, like Taylor, some pizza, beer and a few close friends is our idea of a birthday well spent x
